We were honored to join hands, hearts, and minds in this circle during our first Live Community Meeting – doctors and therapists, co-missioners, partners and all people on the path of their authentic healing.
Thank you for supporting us to initiate this important work dedicated to holistic human care and exploring the messages that cancer has to offer for all of us, both individually and as a society.
We contemplated the mirror cancer offers to individuals and society in the modern age — beyond the visible and the material as an object of laboratory research; and beyond the systems and institutions of cancer care in the present. We explored the “soil” and true source of health, joy and well-being in life.
We give special gratitude to Dr. Nonna Petrova, founder of the European Society for Integrative Medicine in Bulgaria, who delivered a presentation titled “Integrative medicine – the view of cancer and holistic care for the person and society”, based on her decades long experience of integrative medical practice in Bulgaria and abroad, and deep knowledg of ancient wisdom traditions.
Some of the focuses included:
- cancer models in society and the need to overcome our collective notions of the cancer cell – shifting from the perspective of the “selfish cell” to an ecosystem perspective of cancer as a disturbed homeostasis.
- the need to study and support immunity and the incredible flexibility of the body to maintain homeostasis; and the equally important role not just on any particular method of treatment but the very consciousness with which they are applied.
- a new holistic paradigm of healing and cancer care which would include an understanding of consciousness and the bio-psycho-social dynamics that determine both disease and health.
The full transcribed lecture is available upon request. We also thank all like-minded professionals from the field of integrative medicine, psychotherapy and women’s health in Bulgaria who were with us and shared themselves during the evening.
Finally, we are grateful to the brave explorers of self and life- the people diagnosed with cancer and their relatives who are open to the perspective of the wisdom of the disease on both an individual and collective level. Life needs all of us.
