The Gergina Foundation’s ambition is to set up and operate an integral healing centre bringing together under one roof a set of holistic practices that support the physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual development and healing.
A community-driven project, the Heal House will be the home for healing circles, transformational learning, and the arts. The multi-functional space will host signature events and retreats with a special focus on integrative cancer care and belonging. It will follow the lineage of the Healing Circles Langley Center and the Smith Center for Healing and the Arts as part of the US Commonweal family and be the first-of-a-kind physical center in Europe.
We aim to produce a regenerative space where people and community could access expanded awareness, meaning, and choice on the healing path after cancer diagnosis and in bridging societal and ecological divides. The centre will serve as a model project for the potential of integral care for human well-being and prosperity. It will be aligned with the principles of sustainability, inclusivity, and beauty of the European Bauhaus.
It will be located in Zheleznica, a mountainous region on the outskirts of Sofia, where the foundation has recently secured premises. The area was historically part of the important literary and spiritual center called “Sofia Mala Holy Mountain”. It features hundreds of old churches, monasteries, and sacred sites, many preserved to this day or reconstructed after the liberation period. Many were originally built over ancient Thracian sanctuaries – the first settlers on the land.
We are currently at the strategic partnership engagement stage, fundraising, and planning for this project. The center would operate as part of a broader international network of inner development centers and communities bringing a new vision for health and co-creating for the Common Good.
